Edward D Flint

When in Court, I always state for the record, "Edward Flint with the Defendant" but every Judge, Prosecutor and fellow defense attorney always calls me "Ed." The ones that have been around for most of the last 25 years and the newbies are familiar with me, my work and my good reputation. I have lived in Utah since I was five years old, and grew up on the West side of Salt Lake City, attended public schools and the University of Utah on two scholarships.

I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the U. in 1981 and went on to earn my Juris Doctorate at the Utah College of Law in 1985. I passed the bar exam that Summer and was admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of Utah in September, 1985. Later, I was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. I have maintained an active membership in the American Bar Association that entire time, and joined the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where I am currently a member of the Legislative Committee.

I have the unique combination of local experience, familiarity with the customs, people and places in Utah, and a feel for how people think and what people want. In addition to my client, I represent the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Utah. My whole career has been focused on protecting the rights our nation was founded upon and for which so many have shed their blood, sweat and tears.

Through the years, I have seen my classmates become Judges, elected officials and hold positions in the Utah State Bar. Being as outspoken as I have always been, and unwilling to kiss ass at any level, I realized early on that I would never be a Judge, an elected official or a State Bar Officer. So I have concentrated on the Practice of Law, and not the social aspects of being a lawyer. I have earned the respect of the Courts, the Prosecutors and my fellow defense attorneys because I stand up for my clients, don't waiver in my resolve, and stick to my values.
